Our Dive Resort is steadily becoming known as one of the leading adventure epicentres in Waisai – because we want every guest to experience the immense adventure Raja Ampat has to offer. More than just a Dive Hotel, we keep adding to our offering to include activities that ensure EVERYONE can encounter great experiences.

We are not only intensely passionate about all things that honour the immense beauty of our surroundings, but those timeless adventure moments that accompany it.

The Meridian Adventure Dive Resort is conveniently nestled alongside the sustaining mangrove jungle that connects with the abundantly rich waters of Raja Ampat. It is walking distance from the Waisai Ferry, making this bucket list adventure destination easily accessible to many and the perfect base to discover the best Raja Ampat has to offer.

You will be escorted to some of the beautiful and colourful villages and communities that surround us. Visit the smaller island communities via one of our eco-conscious speed boats where you can look forward to meeting friendly faces, drink fresh coconut water, order traditional Indonesian coffee on the beach and truly experience how local people live. Choose to enjoy a local Homestay buffet for lunch as part of your experience.

This small local market offers a sensory experience filled with stalls of fresh seasonal vegetables, fruit and delicacies. Taste fruit that resembles a dragon’s egg (also known as Snake Fruit) or give your skin a Vitamin C boost with the sweet and sticky Matoa Fruit (looks like grapes and tastes like Lychee). Buy vendor food such as banana fritters and avocado smoothies or simply sink your teeth into a Purple Dragon Fruit (our personal favourite).

Raja Ampat is well known for its karst landscapes and limestone cliffs that lead into enchanting caves. One such cave can be explored via the veritable river that flows through it. Be sure to bring your underwater torch to view all the unique critters that call this cave home.

This experience will transport you to an episode on National Geographic. Take some time to experience the majestic sight of a colony of Fruit Bats, travelling from Waigeo island to Mioskon. These bats migrate at sunrise to hang in the trees in Mioskon during the day. When sunset hits, you will see 3 – 5 bats take flight first before the colony of bats follow in numbers back to the mainland to feed on the fruits during the night.

Raja Ampat has long been famous for its Birds of Paradise, ever since the ancient trade in their feathers in the 18th Century. Over 250 species have been connected to the archipelago including the well-known Greater Bird-of-Paradise.

Some of these species can be easily seen during a short excursion – but others will require an extended jungle trek. Birdlife on the islands is rich and diverse and guarantees days filled with birdsong no matter where you are.

Another way of helping is asking your dive resort about invasive species and keeping a look-out during your dives. The Crown of Thorns Seastar – a predator of coral – has been causing a bit of a stir in Raja Ampat. It’s believed the seastars were introduced to the reef through the ballast water of passing cargo ships, and with few predators in Indonesian waters, they have thrived.

Keep a lookout for infestations of 5-10 observed in any one traverse.

The Cendana Pearl Farm provides the sheltered waters critical to the cultivation of pearls. Be escorted by one of our speed boats and enjoy these unique demonstrations of seeding and the amount of time-consuming care and diligence required to successfully produce these quality jewels of the ocean.

Raja Ampat has two tides every 24hours and leaves a period every day where you can explore exposed sandbanks that are normally engulfed in water during high tide. Let us take you to one of these hidden gems at the perfect time.

With over 288 dive sites that are easily accessible with our speed boats, we know exactly where to go to find those nocturnal creatures that only show up at night. Some sightings include the Walking and Wobbegong Shark.

Due to deep water and narrow channels flushing out the turbid water from the mangroves, areas like ‘The Blue River’ offer lighting that will truly leave you enchanted. Be greeted by a pool of blue water that is refreshingly cold to the touch, peacefully sleeping under a jungle canopy.

We know all the best snorkelling spots in Raja Ampat and will escort you to some of the most famous jetties that include an abundance of life with frequent sightings of reef sharks, turtles, dugongs and majestic mantas during October to April. If you are not much of an avid diver, enjoy a snorkel adventure with us which allows you to experience almost all the same sightings as divers.

A great way to experience the immense beauty of Raja Ampat’s ecosystems is via Standup Paddle Boarding. You can either opt to rent the SUPs from us to take off on your own excursion or be whisked off to a nearby area via one of our speed boats for a guided tour that promises to showcase Raja Ampat’s beauty above and below your paddle board.

Meridian Adventure Dive prides itself in making a difference in the communities and surrounding waters. Take part in our monthly beach cleanups, Dive against Debris data collection or get to experience how we remove the invasive species Crown of Thorns Starfish.

Enjoy a sunset excursion with cocktails and canapés on a nearby beach or wine and dine at our Marina Mangrove Deck with a romantic dinner setup.
